EMS Training

EMS is based on the same science used for rehabilitative physical therapy. This technique uses low-impulse electric currents that are not harmful towards humans. Their effect is limited to striated muscles such as those in the arms and legs. EMS is not designed to impact upon the body’s internal organs.

Any average healthy person can benefit from EMS Training. It is not good for people with specific health conditions such as pregnant women, people with cardiac pacemakers, febrile disease or other illnesses. You should consult your doctor if you are concerned about possible issues.

EMS is not painful and does not hurt. Low-current electric current passing through your muscles causes a “fluttering” sensation in your muscles. It is a prickling sensation somewhat similar to the “pins and needles” you feel when your foot falls asleep.


The external influence of EMS causes a disorientating effect. Due to the external influence on your muscles, it becomes more difficult to control your actions. This shows that EMS is working exactly as intended. Our machines activate your muscles and put them to work, providing you with an intense workout each and every time.

Before the session, you’ll need to put on a special EMS bodysuit. This bodysuit is equipped with electrodes located in major muscle areas.   The EMS system will then deliver quick waves of low-impulse electric currents to the user as they exercise. This stimulates muscles into performing harder than normal, thereby resulting in an intense workout that can not be duplicated under regular circumstances.   During the session, you’ll perform movements and exercise in time with the waves of currents. As unfamiliar as it may be, this sensation is your muscles becoming fully activated, making for an intense exercise experience.

Even though the technology behind EMS is very advanced, the science behind it is based on a natural process.


Our brains send commands to our muscles through neurons, which are essentially electrical impulses. During an EMS session, similar electric currents are sent to your muscles. Even though they originate from an external source, your body’s muscles still recognize the EMS signals.


But there is a difference. Normally, only two-thirds of muscle fiber responds when the brain sends an impulse. On the other hand, an EMS signal will almost activate the entire muscle.

To ensure your safety, the rider requirements are:

  • Height: 4’7″ – 6’7″ / 140 cm – 200 cm
  • Max weight: 330 lbs / 150 kg


It is mainly for users 18+, but children can use the bike, too, as long as they’re tall enough to ride. Our guidance is that children 10+ can use the bike, with adult supervision, keeping in mind the recommendation is 60 minutes of exercise per week.

As with all exercise, riders with pre-existing health conditions or who are pregnant should get medical clearance from their GP.

All users must, prior to carrying out any exercise on CAROL Bike, complete this short Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ, see below) to ensure that the bike is used within the prescribed safety margins:

  • Has your doctor ever said that you have a heart condition and that you should only do physical activity recommended by a doctor?
  • Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?
  • In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not doing physical activity?
  • Do you lose your balance because of dizziness, or do you ever lose consciousness?
  • Do you have a bone or joint problem (for example, back, knee or hip) that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity?
  • Is your doctor currently prescribing drugs (for example, water pills) for your blood pressure or heart condition?
  • Do you know of any other reason why you should not do physical activity?


Each CAROL Bike rider is responsible for their own health.

If a rider answers Yes to any of the questions, we request that the rider seeks medical advice from a professional prior to using CAROL.

If a rider feels unwell when using CAROL, they must immediately cease use of CAROL and seek medical advice from a professional.

Body Analysis

InBody devices use direct segmental measurement bioelectrical impedance analysis (DSM-BIA) to precisely measure body composition by sending multiple electrical currents through the body, resulting in up to six different impedance readings for the trunk and each of the four limbs.


The innovative in-depth analysis of the InBody Test yields accurate results for body composition outputs, such as body fat mass, skeletal muscle mass, (segmental) lean body mass, and percent body fat.

Body water volume is closely related to fat free body mass. When fat free mass is subtracted from total weight, body fat mass remains.

People with artificial electrical implants such as a defibrillator or pacemaker are not recommended to take an InBody Test. The electrical currents of the InBody may disrupt the functionality of life-sustaining implants

Women who are on their menstrual cycle or are pregnant are not recommended to test as they may not obtain accurate results due to subtle changes in their hydration and body water levels.


Unfortunately, the InBody’s electrical currents are unable to flow through prosthetic limbs. The electrodes must come into contact with the body at all eight contact points: thumbs, palms, soles, and heels

Changes in body composition reflect body status, which may be affected by factors such as disease, nutrition, hydration, and medication. Accessories such as jewelry may interfere with the electrical conductivity. Improper posture will also affect test results. It is recommended to maintain the same testing conditions from test to test to produce high data reproducibility and comparability

The InBody Test lasts 45 seconds.

InBody recommends testing every 2-4 weeks.
