Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) Training

What is EMS Training?

At Vitality Fitness, your workout is based on EMS technology, the elicitation of muscle contractions using safe electric impulses.

Sounds too scientific? It’s actually quite simple.

The impulses are generated by a device and delivered through electrodes to the skin surface above the muscles to be stimulated. The impulses cause the muscles to contract, so the result is similar to the actual movement and regular contractions of the muscles.

How it works?

With traditional strength training, the brain sends impulses which stimulate certain muscles to contract. However, not all muscles have a well-developed connection to the brain. These muscles are not easily activated, therefore the result will not be as significant.

In comparison, EMS training stimulates all the major muscle groups and also strengthens the connection between the central nervous system and the muscles.

Because muscle fibers are activated in a non-regular order with EMS Training, a more intense level of training is enabled from the start, which creates more muscle fiber at an accelerated rate. More active muscle tissue requires more energy intake which therefore burns more calories, even at rest!

WORKOUT

The Most Efficient Workout You'll Ever Experience

Our Methodology

Strength Sessions

Our Strength Sessions are a full-body toning experience. These sessions condense 2 hours of traditional strength training into a 20-minute workout.  You’ll build up strength by performing simple actions like squats and lunges while electrical impulses contract and release your muscles.

This workout is perfect for those who sit at a desk for most of the day. It is designed for people looking to build spine and core strength as well as those looking to take their  overall strength and conditioning to the next level. Strength Sessions should be taken 1-2 times per week.

Cardio sessions

You’ll go through 20 minutes of heart-pounding cardio in our signature Cardio Sessions. We combine high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with electrical impulses to provide a level of exercising you’ve never experienced before.

Studies have shown HIIT training to be very effective when combined with EMS. This fun and sweaty workout boosts oxygen and blood circulation, delivering a killer calorie burn! Cardio Sessions can be taken up to 2 times a week. For the best overall results, we recommend 1 Cardio Session and 1 Strength Session each week.

Muscle Recovery Sessions

Get treated to a soothing massage at the end of every EMS session. The same electrical impulses that had stimulated your muscles are also used to soothe them.

While still connected to our EMS system, your muscles will
be electronically massaged. Like the rest of the session, our devices perform the brunt of the work for you. Just lie back and enjoy relaxation on another level.

Why EMS Training?

See toning and conditioning results as early as 2 weeks. Whether you are striving to tone and condition or simply get stronger, you can achieve your goals a lot faster with EMS training.

Safety

Low-frequency Impulses

The strength of the electrical impulses are not harmful to humans. The low-frequency impulses used in EMS training only stimulate the nerves and muscles in the striated skeletal muscles – the smooth muscles in the organs and heart are not stimulated.

Health Canada cleared

We use X-body devices which have been cleared for fitness use by Health Canada and the FDA. The devices also comply with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards

Vitality Fitness Studio has also  implemented an internal quality management system to ensure our equipment is properly maintained.

Highly Educated Trainers

Our EMS trainers are all fully trained through the X-body EMS Trainer Education Program. They learn not only how to operate our devices, but how to supervise and motivate clients effectively.
